AFAF's 2005-2006 Season
Auditions for AFAF’s 2005-2006 Season were once again conducted in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Washington DC. With the success of American Fine Arts Festival’s first two seasons, interest in the Festival increased dramatically, and AFAF’s 2005-2006 Season featured two separate rounds of auditions and Winners’ Concerts – the first round held in early winter and the second round taking place late spring/early summer. With a total of over 700 in attendance, 2005-2006 proved to be AFAF’s most successful year thus far.
In 2005-2006, the American Fine Arts Festival joined the world music community in celebrating the 250-year anniversary of W.A. Mozart’s birth. As part of our celebration of the great composer’s life, the AFAF organized a concerto competition, with winners once again invited to perform with the Washington Youth Chamber Orchestra (Olga Yanovich - Music Director) at the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center. The highlight of the year was a Spring Gala Concert featuring some of the best talent from this and previous seasons of the AFAF in a special performance at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
