International Piano Competition for Young Artists
Dear Friends:
It is a pleasure to welcome everyone to the New York Grand Prix International Piano Competition, hosted by the American Fine Arts Festival.
As a truly international metropolis and the world’s cultural capital, New York is the ideal host for this terrific event, which brings fifteen talented pianists to our great City from all over the world. Regardless of who wins the top prize in each age category, these budding virtuosos will all have the opportunity to develop as musicians and as people, fulfilling the very highest
goals of arts education.
On behalf of the City of New York, I commend those who have made this event possible. We are proud to welcome this outstanding new tradition, and extend our best wishes to everyone involved for an enjoyable stay in New York and many years of continued success.

The AFAF Festival Committee would like to congratulate our 2008 NYGP Winners and Finalists on their exceptional achievements in piano performance. This year’s competition was the first installment of NYGP and we are happy to announce that pianists from all around the world took part in this exciting event. We feel proud and privileged that so many talented musicians had the opportunity to share their talent with our audiences as well as fellow participants.
All of us at the AFAF are looking forward to the next NYGP which is currently scheduled to take place in Spring of 2010.
About the NYGP
The New York Grand Prix is an international piano competition that was held in New York City in May of 2008. The competition was open to young pianists between the ages of 9-21 of all nationalities and was adjudicated by an international panel of acclaimed musicians. Finalists were offered a chance to perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall where they competed for several cash prizes. Our first NYGP was huge success, with participants from across the United States, as well as around the globe, including Canada, India, China, and Germany.
