Announcing the AFAF 2008-2009 Season
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 2008-2009 Season of the American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF). This year, the AFAF will once again offer talented young people in the United States and Canada and across the globe the opportunity to further their musical education and the chance to perform at some of the best concert halls in the country. In addition to our regular festival program, this year marks the debut of our international competition for young vocalists - Golden Voices of America, as well as the return of our Summer Music Courses in Europe. We are also hosting a very special 5th Anniversary Celebration Concert will take place at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, November 22, 2008.
Our 2008-2009 Season
A complete guide to our 2008-2009 Season is now available. This year's performance venues include old favorites, like Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Yamaha Piano Salon, as well as a new venue, the Dicapo Opera Theatre Concert Hall. Winners' Concerts will take place in May-June 2009.
In-person auditions for AFAF's 2008-2009 Season will take place in February-March, 2009, in
Massachusetts, Washington, DC, New York, New Jersey, California and, for the first time this year, Connecticut.
Students who are not able to audition in-person can submit a hi-fi VHS videocassette or DVD recording of their audition by mail. We invite you to sign up for our newsletter today to be notified of any changes to audition dates or requirements, additional venues, etc.
5th Anniversary Celebration Concert
In addition to our regular festival program, we’re happy to announce that a very special 5th Anniversary Celebration Concert will take place at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, November 22, 2008. The concert will require CD/DVD/VHS auditions and applicants chosen as winners will perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. The Audition deadline is just days away, so make sure to download your application today. We invite both our American and international fans to take part in this exciting new concert.
Golden Voices of America
The AFAF is also pleased to announce an exciting new international competition for young vocalists – Golden Voices of America. Like our piano competition, the New York Grand Prix, this competition will consist of a preliminary round, which will be a video audition, and a final round, which will take place in New York City in spring/summer of 2009. The audition deadline for this new competition will be March 15, 2009. More information about AFAF’s Golden Voices of America is coming soon.
