5th Anniversary Celebration Concert
We at the AFAF would like to congratulate the winners of this very special 5th Anniversary Celebration concert, and extend a warm thank you to everyone who sent in an audition tape. The quality of submissions was universally high and we hope that those of you who didn’t make our list this time around will consider joining us for the remainder of our festival program.
Eligibility & Repertoire
Participants may perform one or several pieces from the standard repertoire. Single movements from sonatas are acceptable (except for piano). Participation in the 5th Anniversary Celebration concert is open to instrumentalists, vocalists and chamber ensembles in the following five age categories:
A. 5-10 years of age, audition performance not to exceed 8 min in length
B. 11-14 years of age, audition performance not to exceed 12 min in length
C. 15-18 years of age, audition performance not to exceed 15 min in length
D. College students, audition performance not to exceed 20 min in length
E. Amateur adults, audition performance not to exceed 20 min in length
Awards
Please note that multiple winners will be chosen in each age group and in the following performance categories: piano, string, chamber music, winds, and voice. Winners will perform one work, selected by the judges from the contestants' audition repertoire.
1st Place Winners - Concert in Weill Recital Hall, November 22, 1:00pm, 2008, Gold medal and Diploma
2nd Place Winners - Concert in NYC, 2008-2009 season, Silver Medal and Diploma, Time and Venue TBA
How to apply
Applicants interested in participating in this special 5th Anniversary Celebration Concert must submit a CD, DVD or VHS of their audition performance, along with a completed application form and a non-refundable application fee of $150.
• The recording must be clearly labeled on the outside with your name
• The recording must be free of background noise with appropriate balance between solos and accompaniment.
• Due to the large number of submissions, audition CD/DVD/VHS will not be returned.
Application Fee
The application fee is $150 per participant. For chamber ensembles, the fee is $150/ensemble member. If the chamber ensemble has more than 4 members, the application fee is $100/member. Please make checks payable to AFAF (American Fine Arts Festival), P.O. Box 106, Holmdel. NJ 07733. Application fees are non-refundable.
Deadline
Applications and audition CD/DVD/VHS must be postmarked no later than October 27, 2008. Audition results will be announced on our website on November 5, 2008.
