About The AFAF

Described by Harris Goldsmith of the New York Concert Review as a “heartwarming extravaganza… [featuring] obviously talented, budding musicians…”, the American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF) is about start its eighth successful season. The AFAF was founded in 2003 by Vladimir Agilin, a life-long educator and former violinist with the Russian State Symphony Orchestra and Vladimir Spivakov’s “Moscow Virtuosi” Chamber Orchestra. Since its founding, the American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF) has been organizing annual music festivals and performance competition events, providing hundreds of music students each year an opportunity to perform in a formal concert setting at some of the best concert halls in New York City, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall at Kaufman Center.  more ››

Chopin Celebration Concert

On November 13, 2010 AFAF invites you to Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall to celebrate the bicentennial of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), the herald of the Romantic Age and perhaps the greatest composer for the piano. The American Fine Arts Festival would like to honor the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth by presenting a recital of his works in various genres from miniatures such as Preludes and Mazurkas to the grandiose large-scale works such as Ballades and Sonatas. The International Chopin Celebration will require video auditions and is open to pianists of all nationalities.  more ››

Golden Strings of America

In addition to our vocal competition, we are announcing a parallel competition for string players, the AFAF Golden Strings of America. The competition is open to string players of all nationalities and we welcome both solo performers and ensembles. Multiple finalists will be chosen based on submitted audition recordings (DVD/VHS) in several age categories and 1st place winners will have the opportunity to give a recital at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in December, 2010. We invite all eligible string players, including participants of our regular festival, to take part in this exciting new competition! more ››
